Y1 Parent Celebration of the Word - Galilee to Jerusalem (12th February 2025)

Date: 19th Feb 2025 @ 2:17pm

Year one loved celebrating our branch 'Galilee to Jerusalem' with our parents and the children from Reception and Year two.

We acted out two of our favourite pieces of scripture from Luke's Gospel, about 'Jesus and the Little Children,' and 'The Presentation of the Lord.'

The most important message that we were able to share with everybody, was about Jesus being like a light for the world.

Our dance to the song, 'Here I Am to Worship' helped us to show this and so did the beautiful candle holders we had made to take home to our families with tea lights glowing inside.

We also shared what we had learned about the Christian Feast of Candlemas which takes place each year.

The happiest parts of our celebration, were inviting everyone to sing 'Share the light' and 'Love like Jesus did' with us. We were so pleased to see and hear some parents and children joining in too - thank you!

Praying together was so special and we are excited for the next time we will do this together.

Here are some of the things that our parents said after the Celebration:

"Children you really helped me to think about the love of Jesus - thank you."

"I enjoyed everything about the worship but especially the singing."

"The message that I experienced was that we are all blessed."

"Children continue to pass the word."

These are the words that were used to describe how our Celebrtaion of the Word made our parents feel: happy, humble, proud, lovely, together, amazing, joyful, thoughtful, emotional and blessed.

After learning about the importance and theme of the Jubilee, the children across school have Celebrated the Word and written their own pledges.

Y1 Harvest Collective Worship for KS1

Date: 22nd Oct 2024 @ 12:53pm

KS1 enjoyed a special worship led by a group of children from Year 1 on the theme of Harvest.

We heard an amazing story from the Bible in which Jesus and his disciples were able to feed 5000 people using only five loaves and two fish.

The children shared the CAFOD characters of Shrist the Sun bear and DJ the dolphin to show how we can also help to feed hungry people here in Widnes.

We asked if anybody was able to bring in boxes of cereal for the Foodbank. Doing this shows we are living in solidarity, just like Shristi the bear.

We are also helping to make sure that everyone has their fair share, which DJ says is called Distributive Justice.

Here is what some children thought and said after our Worship:

'I liked praying' - Ella

'I'm bringing a cereal box in so I can help' - Kit

'I loved that story about the food' - Roman

'It made me want to pray' - Delilah
