Transition
Starting at St Basil's
We know that starting school can be an exciting time for families.
We strongly encourage and welcome visits to school so that we can:
- Get to know and understand each child and their individual needs
- Establish a relationship with parent/carer and wider family
- Liase with previous settings and schools to ensure a smooth transition
Early Years
When children start in our Early Years we:
- Contact parents/carers to confirm the placement
- Liase with current setting iand discuss needs
- Meet the child and family on a home visit
- Invite the child and their parent/carer to stay and play sessions
- Invite the child to story visits
- Invite parents/carers to a short information evening
- Hold teacher and parent/carer consultation meeting
- Short phased part entry - usually one week
Moving on to High School
Preparing to move on to high school is a significant and emotional step for children and their families.
We prepare children for high school by:
- Working with the different high schools pastoral staff and designated safeguarding leads
- Facilitate visits by high school staff to meet the children
- Liase with the different high schools around school visits. For Halton schools this is usually two days in July
