Jubilee Year launch - Pilgrims of Hope - January 24th 2025
Date: 26th Jan 2025 @ 11:42am
Our school community came together for an amazing launch for the very special Jubilee Year.
A Jubilee is celebrated within the Catholic church every 25 years. This year the theme will be 'Pilgrims of Hope'.
We are called together to experience joy and strength as we embarkon a journey to be 'agents of change,' working together for justice, love and peace, locally and globally.
After learning about the importance and theme of the Jubilee, the children across school have Celebrated the Word and written their own pledges.
We gathered together to reflect and share pledges before displaying them all around the hall.
We are excited for more events to come during the Jubilee Year and are filled with hope for the difference we can make in fulfilling our pledges!

We designed and crafted our own moving Christmas card using DT mechanisms for our DT unit.
Date: 19th Dec 2024 @ 4:11pm
Year 6 loved their DT lesson cooking vegetable stir fry which they had been researching and planning in the previous weeks.
All of the children had a go at preparing the food and cooking it.
Some children even discovered some new foods which they now like.
Although we didn't all like everything, the food was very tasty and we all tried it.

Y5CG have worked really hard and creatively on their Christmas cards. They planned their card design and then created them by using a wide range of different resources. They included a mechanism to make features of their cards move and will then evaluate their finished product.
Y3 - DT - Gingerbread stained glass biscuits and packaging
Date: 18th Dec 2024 @ 8:38am
This half term's DT project involved us evaluating some stained glass window biscuits. We thought about which designs looked best and then designed our own, choosing the outside shape, inside shape and the colour of sweet in the middle.
Then we had an afternoon of rolling, cutting and baking.
At the same time, we designed and constructed a package for our biscuit, something that would keep it safe and also make it more appealing to give to someone, we thought about eye catching colours and messages.
Then we packaged up our biscuits ready to take home and gift them!

As our final DT unit of the year, Year 3 and 4 focused on Food Technology linked to our Personal Development unit of Healthy Eating.
We researched different fruits and the nutrients in them. Then we designed a kebab to make sure we had lots of colour which means lots of nutrients.

Today the children used the ramps and crates to make their very own bridge routes.
The children worked collaboratively to create the route but it took lots of trial and error to get the bridges to balance.
They took it in turns to carefully move around the structure. They had to be careful not to fall in the water!
