Y4 - Visit to the Walker Art Gallery and World Museum

Year 4 had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Walker Art Gallery and World Museum. In the gallery the children observed various sculptures from different periods of time. During their time in the World Museum, they had the opportunity to look in the aquarium and the floor on Ancient Egypt. 

Y1 - Beeston Castle Visit

Year 1 visited Beeston Castle after learning all about castles in their History topic. 

Y3 - Residential Catalyst Museum

On Thursday 2nd May we took a trip to the Catalyst Museum in Widnes,

We took part in some orienteering, outdoor games and sound hunting before entering the museum galleries to learn more about our Science topics.

Then we had a workshop where we made soap whilst learning about the history of the Gossage's soap factory that the Catalyst is built in.

After dinner and watching 'Night at the Museum' we settled down for the night in the Observatory gallery. 

On Friday we took part in a Fantastic Light show before venturing back to school.

Y3 & Y4 - Roman Chester Visit

As part of our Spring History topic on the Ancient Romans, we visited the city of Chester. 

We took part in a workshop about Roman life, even getting to try on some Roman armour. We also visited the archeological remains of the amphitheatre and practiced some Roman Army defence and attack techniques

"We learnt that it was called Deva during Roman times, that the Romans built their fortress near the River Dee to keep the Welsh away and what food they grew here" - Heidi 

"I got to hold the Roman soldier's sword, it was heavy but I could pick it up" - Charlie

Y5 & Y6 - Fantastically Great Women - Lowry Theatre Visit

Year 5 and 6 pupils had a fantastic evening at the Lowry Theatre.

We watched the brand new production of Fantastically Great Women, based on the text we had read in our English lessons.

"I liked watching the actors sing live. I also liked all of the colourful props they used." Ellissa 

"I enjoyed the production because it was a musical story and it helped me to understand more about the women we learnt about in English." Jake
