Children from Years 4, 5 and 6 competed in the town sports and did our school proud. Their behaviour was exemplary and they competed hard. We had numerous children in the finals competing against the best athletes in the town, well done to you all.

Finally, we have had some luck with the weather and we have been able to get all of the children out to enjoy an afternoon competing in their houses. All of the children really hard and displayed great sportsmanship qualities. Below is a list of the events the children took part in;

Today the children used the ramps and crates to make their very own bridge routes.
The children worked collaboratively to create the route but it took lots of trial and error to get the bridges to balance.
They took it in turns to carefully move around the structure. They had to be careful not to fall in the water!

Reception have been attending weekly Music and Movement sessions. They have learnt lots of musical vocabulary and learnt the names of instruments.

Year 1 were absolutely fantastic practicing their sports day events in athletics. They competed in the javelin, assault course, bean bag toss, hurdles and balance ball.

During athletics, year 2 practiced some sports day events. They worked hard on the javelin throw, bean bag toss, assault course, hurdles and balance ball.

Year 3 and 4 have been learning how to improve their grip and ball control, as well as improving their forehand and backhand shots.

Everyone in school took part in our annual Fun Run to raise contributions for PTA school projects.
Unfortunately due to the weather this year we could not take part all together on our field.
Instead each class took their turn to complete laps of our playground track in Fancy Dress.
We counted our laps in 10 minutes.
"I always look forward to the Fun Run. This year I brought my dinosaur costume but still managed to do 15 laps!" - Josh Y4
"I really enjoy dressing up every year and doing the laps with my friends. We always end up on the same because we run side by side" - Holly Y5

Year 3 and 4 have been improving their tennis grip and control with the ball. They have started to work on backhand and forehand strokes.

Year 6 have been working on a variety of different skills including dribbling, shooting and the different types of passes. This has helped them in game situations were they have also came up with tactics together as a team.

In Netball we learned how to position our bodies as we are preparing to throw the ball. We worked really hard on our attacking and defending skills and how to form the 'W' shape with our hands as we are preparing to catch the ball.

Year 4 boys took part in a Widnes Schools competition. They worked hard as a team and came away with some good wins.

Year 3 and 4 have been learning hockey this term. They have took part in various drills focussing on passing, ball control and shooting.

Year 6 have been taking part in orienteering, they have used team work and various map reading skills to complete each course. Each week the children would receive a new map with new locations on to help them find clues and complete the course. They also took part in some problem solving activities in the hall and on the trim trail.
