Crowning of Mary - 14th May 2026

Date: 7th Jul 2026 @ 9:20pm

Our school family gathered together for a special service led by Father Peter Ross.

We were also joined by governors and our special friend of St Basil's, Mr Jim Wilson.

Our statue of Mary is dedicated to Jim's wife Christine who served our school on the Governing body before passing away.

Father Peter was asssisted by the children who shared prayers and readings to honour Mary during this most special month.

We also enjoyed singing some beautiful hymns and songs dedicated to Our Lady.

A procession was then made with the crown of flowers which was used to crown Mary.

This was a really special and reverent celebration enjoyed by our community.

Mission Together After School Club - Summer term 2026

Date: 7th Jul 2026 @ 9:00pm

This term we have been thrilled to launch the first ever Mission Together After School Club nationally.

Over the term, a group of enthusiastic Year three pupils have attended and participated with some fun and important activities.

On the 2nd of July, we were so excited to welcome Claire Colleran from Mission Together to our session, to show her what we have been up to!

Claire brought along a special surprise - the brand new official Charity mascot - Missio Mouse ( Mi Mo!)

It has been wonderful to see how keen the children are to learn about and help children around the world.

We hope to recruit even more members across the school in the next school year.

Reception class Stay and Pray - Wednesday 17th June 2026

Date: 7th Jul 2026 @ 8:38pm

We welcomed our parents into class this afternoon for a special Celebration of the Word.

We listened to a story from the Bible  about a special rule that Jesus had to 'Love one another' (John 13: 34-35).

We also prayed and sang about our friends in school and around the world!

We shared what we have learnt about the friends of Jesus who lived a long time ago.

But we also know that everyone can be a friend of Jesus, especially us!

"It is important to care about our friends" (Junior).

"I'm going to try and keep the special rule" (Sophia).

"We need to say thank you to God for our friends" (Luca)

After our Celebration of the Word, we spent some time doing lovely activities with our grown ups who had joined us.

There were prayer pebbles to paint, love heart friend strips, Prayer packs, fishy friends and friends around the world on a map.

At the end of the afternoon we were given a special book called. 'God is very clever,' to take home and keep.

Our grown ups said:

'The worship made me feel very included getting to join in."

"I loved the singing from the children."

"We are going to buy some rosary beads!"

Holy week - March 2026

Date: 13th Apr 2026 @ 10:26pm

During our final week of term the children from Year 1 to Year 6 visited Church for a very special prayer spaces experience.

When each class arrived for their allocated time slot, the children entered 'Jerusalem' to encounter the Palm Sunday procession.

After hearing the scripture from the Bible, the children then enjoyed making their own palm leaves with greetings written on such as, 'Hosanna' and 'Praise Him!'

Following this, a gathering took place to represent the 'Last Supper'  at the side of church.

The children heard from the Bible reading how, in an act of great service, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples at this meal.

Modelled by their teachers first, three volunteers from each class then acted in the role of Jesus and washed the hands of their classmates.

Finally, the children gathered around the wooden cross, made by our Site Manager Mr Wood.

They spent time listening to the scripture about Good Friday and reflecting on forgiveness before adding their own post it note message to the cross.

We are so proud of the children for engaging so reverently in this special event to mark the events of Holy week.

On the last day of term, we gathered as a whole school family and also welcomed Reception class to join our Celebration of the Word.

Thank you to Year 6, who shared the Stations of the Cross with us.

It was a wonderful sight to see each child waving their own palm leaf at the relevant moment as we sang together!
