Year 3 and Year 4 DT Electricity Unit Final product

Children in Year 3 and 4 created their final product as part of their electricity unit.
The children have designed a torch including a simple circuit.
Children could talk through step by step instructions of how they made their torches using cardboard and a glue gun. The children used maths skills to measure their design in cm and mm.

Rainbow Unit - Green class week 23

This week in Green class, we have been practising our pencil control and continuing with our fine motor skills. The children are showing good progress with this and are becoming more confident and showing more persistence when completing these activities.
We have also heard some of the children singing parts of our phonics songs this week as we have been completing our phonics sessions ๐

Rainbow Unit- Yellow Class Week 23

This week in the Yellow Class, we have introduced some new resources for our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic.
We have introduced emergency vehicles and a car mat, and also a train track.
The children have enjoyed engaging with these activities. We have made and introduced communicate boards to use alongside these activities, adults are modelling these with the children.

9th-16th March was British Science Week and the theme was curiosity. In classes, we completed different activities to promote discussion and asking questions.

Year 4 Stay and Pray based on our RED topic Desert to Garden.

As part of our unit of work in RE after we focused on the Parable of the Sower we took Jesus' meaning of the story and applied it ourselves. Thinking about how when we sow or grow something it is like the Kingdom of God growing in our our hearts. We joined with Year 4 and planted some more fruit trees on our school field to help us remember the meaning ourselves

We focused on the scripture of Jesus' miracle of the loaves. We made our own baskets filled with 5 loaves and 2 fish and wrote on the back of each one small thing we could do to help others as Jesus encouraged his disciples by saying 'you yourselves give them something to eat'
Year 3 Celebration of the Word Mission Together

Our class planned and led our Thursday Celebration this week all about our Lent Charity, Mission Together. We wrote our own prayers and encouraged people to ask for donations this Lent.

Galilee to Jerusalem activities

Year 1 have enjoyed our new branch, Galilee to Jerusalem.
The children have made special candle holders for Candlemas!
They have helped to construct a temple in our small world area to help us remember 'The Boy Jesus in the Temple'.

This week, we have been learning about The Nicene Creed.

The children decorated a mini box of love to take home to their families.

We have made some beautiful artwork to display in our classroom to help us remember.

Mission Together Lenten campaign - Spring term 2026

On Friday the 27th of February, Claire Colleran visited school to share information about the work of the charity Mission Together.
Mission Together is the children’s branch of Missio – the Catholic Church’s official charity for overseas mission.
Mission Together’s aim is to support life-giving children’s projects in places of poverty and turmoil, and to support the mission of Catholic education.
Mission Together work in over 150 countries around the world, supporting children in need.
This Lent, St Basil's want to support this amazing charity and are looking forward to fundraising for them.
Reception class Celebration of the Word for Mother's Day - Wednesday 11th March 2026

We welcomed our parents, especially the mums and special ladies in our lives, to our special Celebration of the Word.
We enjoyed sharing our art work and songs as well as the reasons why we love our mums!
We chose some scripture from the Bible about a very special mother, Mary.
We acted out the story when Angel Gabriel visited Mary (Luke 1: 26-31) and then loved singing, 'Mary you said yes to God.'
Here are some of the things are grown ups said about our Celebration of the Word:
"I'm truly grateful and happy to have experienced this great show of love."
"I loved the bits about mums in heaven, it had me in tears."

Rainbow Unit- Yellow Class Week 22

It's been a busy week in the Yellow Class this week!
The children have really enjoyed our creative activity this week, exploring cotton wool and making a sheep picture. Our Maths activities this week was ordering and matching numbers 1-5, most of the children enjoyed this activity.

Rainbow unit - Green class week 22

It has been another busy week for the children in Green class. We have been continuing to work on our fine motor skills and have been using some tweezers to pick things up and place them on number tiles. We have also been using some cotton wool and glue for our creative activity of the week, making a sheep. Some children loved the feel of this, others were not so sure!
